MONTGOMERY, Ohio (WKRC) - Days ahead of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, hundreds of families in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are guaranteed to have proper meal with all the trimmings. Two hundred of them picked up the meals Sunday at Sycamore High School.

Set up in the room for each family; a turkey and an oven bag, bag of potatoes, stuffing, butter, rolls, cookies, a pie, whip cream, cans of beans, cranberries, yams, a bag of flour and candy.

"People from all the world have donated, Belgium, the Canary Islands, friends of mine, they like seeing people in need get help,” said Matt Plapp.

Plapp and Dorron Hunter started giving families a Thanksgiving Day meal 10 years ago, they started with a handful of families, now close to 350.

“If you’re able to do and give back. That’s a blessing, a true blessing and only god can do that,” said Hunter.

Volunteers spent the morning shopping for all the items and then put the baskets together. Many of the volunteers live in the area but the Fehrman family of four made the eight-hour drive from Washington D.C. to help. They’ve been coming to help for six years.

"The first year we came back they were three years old and we fed less than 100 people. We came back next year, 150-200 people and now up to over 300,” said Jeff Fehrman. “It's something they actually look forward to when we come back. They always ask are we going to be able to come back on Sunday and do the Thanksgiving."

Fehrman grew up with Plapp in Cincinnati and his kids Bear and Taylor can’t wait to get to Cincinnati to get right to work.

"I went out to the truck and helping and I started sorting out the boxes,” said Bear Fehrman.

The Kentucky families will get their meals on Monday.
