Palm Sunday in Astoria 3/24/2013. Oregon's Department of Fish and Wildlife terrorizes the native Columbia River sea lions. The Columbia River sea lions are scapegoated, trapped, branded, tortured, and killed by humans for eating 1 percent of the fish in the Columbia/ Willamette Rivers. The Columbia river sea lions need to eat fish. Their very ability to survive as a species like our own is determined by our very ability to eat. Humans on the other hand, have many other food choices besides fish, but the Columbia River sea lions do not. Humans should not allow a greedy industry that kills over 17 percent of the fish for sport and profit. To wage war on our ecology with our tax dollars and nor should these dollars be spent to target and sea lions and birds for merely eating fish for their own species survival. Humans must be required to share fish from one of the biggest rivers in North America or none of us stand a chance. SLDB 2013.
