Government to introduce new rules on market dominance in telecommunications sector

The government plans to introduce new rules on market dominance for players in the telecommunications sector to ensure major players do not abuse their positions. ICT Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’I says he plans to forward to parliament the draft rules that will ensure that no particular player with more than 50 percent of a particular market has the ability to influence the market. The new rules also aim at making the telecommunication sector attractive for investment by new players. By Ronald Owili.
