HAMILTON, Ohio (WKRC) – A wanted fugitive of more than a year is back behind bars in Butler County.

The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) wanted Cornelius Givens for an aggravated robbery out of Butler County and a parole violation warrant out of Franklin County. He’s now facing two counts of burglary, two counts of assault, domestic violence, robbery, aggravated menacing and an unlisted holder charge from Forrest Park.

Givens being locked up is news that two women have been waiting for.

"For the first time, I was able to walk outside and not look over my shoulder or carry my gun because I knew he was in jail and he couldn’t hurt me or my kids anymore,” one victim said.

To protect her identity, her name won’t be published. She says she briefly dated Givens in 2017 and says he beat her repeatedly.

“Most of my abuse took place in my car. He’d beat me in my car, strangle me in my car. He broke my foot. I have seven screws in my foot now,” she said.

She’s not the first and may not be the last. Givens served eight years in prison for assaulting a woman. Shortly after his release, he started with a woman who also says Givens beat her. Her name will not be released either.

“I got punched, multiple black eyes, busted lips. He would do my makeup to cover up my black eyes,” she said.

Both women filed charges against Givens, however, they say prosecutors told them there was not enough evidence to go to trial. Now with Givens locked up on a long list of charges, both women are hopeful something sticks.

“He needs to be away for a long time and not be able to hurt any more women,” she said.

Since Givens' release from prison in 2016, more than half a dozen women have filed domestic violence charges against him, but none have resulted in trials or convictions.
