Kenya's Communication Authority has threatened to shut down the internet during general elections scheduled for August of this year. The body says it will take the drastic measure to help prevent violence. The authority says shutting down the internet is a last resort measure, though. It's meant to ensure that no violence broke out. More than a thousand people were killed following the elections late in 2007.
