The United States government is offering rewards of up to $6m for information on locations of six leaders of Somalia-based al-Shabaab extremist group. The State Department announced on Tuesday tipsters could receive up to 6million dollars for information leading to the "identification or whereabouts" of the group's main leader, Abu Ubaidah, up to 5million dollars for information on three of his deputies and 3 million dollars for two others. The money is being offered under the State Department's "Rewards for Justice" programme. Al-Shabaab is blamed for killing thousands of civilians, aid workers and peacekeepers in Somalia, Uganda, and Kenya since 2006.
