Kaiser Permanente once again sponsored Cooking for Solutions and Sustainable Foods Institute, an annual event celebrating food, cooking and sustainability held at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, Calif. The event draws kids, families, chefs, educators, as well as thought leaders and key influencers in the culinary and sustainability world. Preston Maring, MD, gave hands-on cooking lessons to children of all ages, teaching them to make delicious salsa and guacamole using fresh ingredients. Keith Fabisiak, MD, demonstrated square-foot gardening, a technique that allows kids to grow fresh produce in small spaces.
