Deadly Accident on Side of Signal Mountain

by Kevin Sims Rescue crews had a hard time reaching a deadly accident off the side of Signal Mountain Thursday night.  Just before 7 p.m. the 2008 Ford was found off an embankment near the 900 block.According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, the vehicle left the roadway, then struck a rock and flipped over.  Troopers say 97-year-old Joseph Wagner was the only person in the vehicle and died in the wreck. Investigators say he was wearing his safety belt and did not find any signs that Wagner tried to brake as the Ford left the road.
