AFL big wigs have shunned major sponsor Virgin Australia opting for a $10million dollar private jet to ferry them to and from Alice Springs.

AFL Chief Executive Officer Gill McLachlan led the League's Executive team to the Northern Territory to watch Melbourne take on Adelaide.

The well heeled corporate high flyers travelled in style aboard Crown Director Harold Mitchell's Global Express which touched down into Melbourne just on 9pm Sunday night.

Joining the CEO on the 2hour & 15minute journey was Legal Counsel Andrew Dillon & Head of AFL Operations Travis Auld as well as the Seven Network's Melbourne General Manager Lewis Martin.

Richard Branson's Virgin Australia is one of the League's major sponsors and ferries the teams and officials around the country and internationally when required.

Virgin scheduled a flight out of Alice Springs at 7.40pm local time. 

Ad man Mitchell was also travelling with the group; it was his jet that he recently purchased from Crown's major shareholder, James Packer.
