Wheat is Australia's most important grain crop, valued at over A$5 billion annually, but how will it perform in the future under predicted high temperatures, elevated CO2 levels and terminal drought? We're investigating how different wheat traits perform under projected climate conditions using specially designed tunnel houses. Each tunnel house represents a different climate scenario in which temperature, CO2 concentration and water are controlled. The results from this study will allow wheat breeders to select traits to best respond to the changing climate.
