Nazerine Griffin went from sweeping the streets, "half a shell of a human being," to becoming the Director of the Doe Fund's Harlem Center for Opportunity - the program that initially saved him from homelessness. In this video he talks about the accomplishments of the Doe Fund and the place the David Lynch Foundation plays in rehabilitating the homeless. NAZERINE GRIFFIN: "We do all we can to give these men the tools they need to live a better, healthier and a productive life- one that brings them happiness. Our core belief at the Doe Fund is that work works. Our men need a job, a home, and they need the ability to deal effectively with the changes and challenges life throws at them. Stress is one of their biggest enemies. It keeps them down and holds them back. Their lives are packed with stress- physical, emotional and mental." "TM is a remarkable tool. I know from my own experience how effective it can be. I was one of the first at the Doe Fund to learn how to meditate. I quickly experienced many of the stress-reducing effects. I'm sharper and calmer. I used to go through Tylenol and Advil like candy- but not anymore. I can't remember the last time I had a tension headache." "For our men, meditation is much more than just getting rid of headaches and lowering blood pressure. It makes a huge difference in their lives. It is an essential tool for them, one they can use for the rest of their lives."
