DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv - Ucode is a wireless identification system which in the future could well replace traditional barcode and ISBN identification methods for products. Ucode's advantage is that it can be used to identify individual items and store information about them on a centralized database called the UID Center. Currently there are many different code systems used to store information about products. Standard barcodes use three different methods, and ISBN codes are used for books and other publications, yet none of the methods can single out and identify information about unique items.  Ucode technology is able to this however, and as it is  wireless, the information can be accessed from a mobile phone, pda or personal computer.  The technology has wider applications. YRP Ubiquitous Laboratories plans to implement the technology within the medicine and healthcare sector. It has developed a machine which can reference a users medical conditions and check them against allergies in food or prescribed drugs. Medical history can be stored on a card and at a checkout at the drugstore users can easily check if products are safe for them to consume. Supporters of the technology hope to implement it nation wide in the future.
