A groundbreaking celebration for the Helen White Memorial Walking Trail in Modesto drew more than 100 residents, guests, and community leaders. The half-mile walking and bicycle trail is expected to be completed in Spring 2014. It will include landscaping, lighting, and security features, such as call boxes. Kaiser Permanente has been working to improve the health of the Modesto community through its Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) initiative, which is designed to help combat obesity by making healthy choices accessible to people in underserved communities across Northern California. As part of the current HEAL Zones initiative, KP invested $200,000 in the trail project through a fund established at the East Bay Community Foundation.
