Some Brave Smoky Conditions, Work Outdoors In Sacramento

As the Camp Fire burns in Butte County, smoke continues to envelop the valley. The Sacramento Department of Health Services advises residents to minimize outdoor activity if they see or smell smoke, and that includes people who think they’re healthy. Residents are advised to stay indoors and limit the number of times doors and windows are opened. Those warnings didn’t stop people who work outdoors from performing their jobs Thursday. Some wore masks. Other chose to go without them. For businesses that rely on walk-in customers, like those in Old Sacramento, the smoke has put a dent in their bottom lines. “Business very much has slowed down due to the impact of the smoke. Nobody wants to be out and about spending money because they're more concerned with their health, which, you know, rightly so,” said Felecia Florendo at McGee’s Old Time Photos.
