Flop mode on the Rosemary Ainslie COP 17 circuit at 6.5 percent duty cycle around 4 kHz, with a 25.65 V battery bank, ambient at 23 C and the load at 59 C. The scope shows the battery driven to nearly 80 V on the switch-off spike with no flyback diode fitted to the resistor. Across the coil the trace reads over 200 V on the small 10 ohm 50 W inductor, and over 800 V is reported on the larger one; the two coils are given as 23 microhenry and 106 microhenry.
