SYLMAR - Hundreds of residents are without power this morning after an explosion at an LADWP plant overnight.A fire station near the Sylmar plant lost power just before 11:00 PM, according to Battalion Chief Nicholas Ferrari. Ferrari says when the fire engine arrived to check out the plant, a large explosion was heard. Witnesses say they saw a large fire ball followed by thick black smoke. Hundreds of households nearby then lost power. Officials say two transformers exploded and the situation remains static. It is unclear when pwoer will be restored to the area. No injuries were reported.
