This 2 year old has a very typical reaction to the structure of swim lessons. He protests the fact that the teacher must control what he does in the water during swim lessons. Keep in mind that he would do this on land as well, if the teacher were to completely direct him on where he goes and what he does. He loves the water. He just doesn't want someone telling him what to do. The parents stuck with it anyway. It paid off. He was able to use his skills for self-rescue during a July 4th pool party. YAY ! We try to do everything we can to make learning fun. However, it is more important that the student master skills that he can use to self-rescue.
