One of our viewers (Salty Shellback) posted a question during our latest contest. How many Hostess Twinkies will stop a .22lr bullet. We didn't know the answer so in true Mythbusters fashion we set out to find the answer. In the name of science we set forth on a weeklong quest to buy as many Twinkies as we could find. We had some help from Bob's wife Melanie and another viewer, Patrick Lippy. In all we started our day with 462 cream filled golden cakes. After 5 hours of shooting Twinkies we are confident in our answer. A surprising answer none the least. So sit back with your favorite beverage and Hostess product and follow us along as we delve into the unknown. For this test we used 3 GoPro Cameras, a Canon Eos Rebel and an iPhone 5s.
The rifle used is a suppressed Ruger 10-22 outfitted with a NiteSite NS-200. When the day was done we had shot or destroyed 200 Twinkies in the name of science. Stay tuned for a video showcasing how another 200 twinkies met their demise. It was an epic day and really appreciated the suggestion.
