A 3D rendering of mature HIV particles from a cryo-electron tomogram with the viral membrane and its capsid colored blue and red, respectively. Density between the membrane and core is colored yellow. Tomography was carried out with a TEM at 36,500x magnification. Projections were collected at 2° tilt increments, covering an angle of -68° to +64° (EMD-1155) (Briggs et al.,2006).
