As regular maintenance or for buying-selling bikes to avoid bad deals that cost multiple times the original cost plus the headache. No tools used, just naked eyes and extreme attention to detail. Watch for wobbly wheels, deformed rims, bent brake discs, noisy brakes, old tires, loose forks, leaky forks, soft or bottoming out suspension, asymmetrical suspension L-R, uneven or wobbly steering, possibly missing wheel balancing weights, sound fork bridges and matching fork mounting. Verify correct steering geometry with straight line ride, turn-and-straighten-out, sharp turn and strong braking in straight line to compress suspension and test brakes, ride over uneven surface.
