Okay, so as you can see, for our first song on guitar we are using two of the chords we learned in the previous lessons, namely the E-Major and the A-Major. 

I remember very well when I started playing guitar. When I learned a new song, I though it always had to sound exactly the same as the original version. However, for a real guitar beginner, that is more often than not just way too difficult. Therefore, what we are doing here in this lesson will make things much easier. Essentially, we are cheating a little bit -- but don't tell anyone!! Well, it's actually not really cheating, because all we do is make some modifications so the songs are easier for us to learn.

When you learn a new guitar song, it is only normal that you can't really play along with a steady beat. In a first step, you will have to familiarize with the chord changes. But once you feel comfortable with that, it will be very important the you play a song based on a consistent rhythm or beat. For that purpose, I always recommend using a metronome. Start out slowly and then gradually increase the speed. Alternatively, try to play along with me in the video, that's usually a bit more fun than playing with a metronome.
