Well, this is my Black Sabbath 13 review and what can I say, I think the album actually exceeded my expectations. Because I believe I came in with the right mindset. What I mean by that is: I think some people set themselves up for disappointment by assuming that "13" is just going to sound the exact same like the first five albums. That's just not realistic, because as I stated in the video, a long time has passed since Ozzy, Geezer, Tony and Bill produced their last studio record. In the meantime, a lot has changed. The equipment as well as the musicians are not the same anymore, because they have evolved since. Nonetheless, I do believe Black Sabbath 13 accomplished the mission Rick Rubin set out for the band. 
By reading other Black Sabbath 13 reviews, I was not surprised by many fans' discontent over the fact that Bill Ward refused to join in on the new album. You are probably well aware of the drama that preceded the production of the Black Sabbath 13 CD. At first, Bill and everybody else was excited over the new project. But the excitement quickly turned into disappointment over what Bill Ward referred to as an 'unsignable contract'.  Long story short, Brad Wilk was hired to play drums on the new album and I think he did an outstanding job. As much as I would have loved to have Bill sitting in the chair behind the drum kit. 
The Black Sabbath 13 Tracklist consists of a well balanced selection of power riff songs and melancholic and often socio-critical pieces. Over all, I would attest the new Black Sabbath album a nice flow, the songs seem to complement each other. At least in my personal opinion. Before the actual release date, I had already ordered my copy of the Black Sabbath 13 Deluxe edition box set, which contains:
- Black Sabbath 13 CD  - a double album with one CD featuring the regular tracks and a second CD with three Black Sabbath 13 Bonus Tracks.
- Black Sabbath 'Making of 13' DVD
- Pictures taken in the studio during the production of "13"
- Black Sabbath 13 Vinyl Double Album
As I'm typing these lines, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler are promoting their new product on the Black Sabbath 13 tour which just moved to Helsinki. Tony has been doing pretty well, despite his struggle with lymphoma and ongoing treatment. 
Alright, musically I believe that Black Sabbath 13 has the potential to establish itself as another classic Sabbath record. But it will take time. I'm not saying that I like the album as much as I like their first five records. However, that would be an unfair comparison in my opinion. Those classic productions had time to evolve and find their place in history. The new Black Sabbath album will need time, too to find its place. 
I highly recommend that you check out this album.
