by Karen Zatkulak Newschannel 9 continues to push for answers in the case of a Rhea County woman with Down Syndrome who was kept overnight at the Rhea County Jail.It happened on Wednesday, and since last week, we've been asking if sheriff's deputies had any other option, besides taking the woman to the jail.Disability advocacy groups we talked to are shocked by the way this situation was handled. Monday, the state told us there are several places the woman could have been taken, besides the jail. But the Sheriff's Office maintains they did exactly what they should have, and the resources are not as available as some may think. It's a mug shot some say should never have happened, of a 48-year-old woman with Down Syndrome, clutching her doll after being arrested for domestic assault, handcuffed, and shackled.Mark Woolfall with the Tri-State Resource
