Suspected driver in chase that ended in a Fairfield backyard appears in court

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A man from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, who is accused of leading local narcotics investigators on a wild ride that ended in a backyard faced a judge.

Marrice Ellis was arrested Tuesday after a chase that started in Hamilton County and ended in Fairfield.

Agents followed the suspects off I-275 and into Fairfield. Assistant prosecutor David Wood said the driver broke numerous traffic laws during the chase. It ended when the vehicle ran off the road, hit a tree and then the back porch of a home before two suspects ran away.

A police dog tracked down Ellis.

In court, Ellis' attorney denied he was driving. A judge set bond for Ellis at $50,000.
