A non-healing wound below the left eye of this 15-year-old Chihuahua X is due to a rotten carnaissal tooth abscess. The left upper Premolar Tooth 4th and 3rd were extracted under general anaesthesia by Dr Daniel. The owner had never sent this dog for any dental work, otherwise this abscess would not have occurred. The periodontal diseases caused by bacteria lead to infection of the root of the carnaissal tooth, leading to open wound below the eye. This wound is also , called oro-nasal fistula. The dog is now OK and eating after this extraction. Yearly health and dental scaling will prevent such tooth abscesses.
