This instrument of torture is employed when an animal is in a trap, so they will scare the animal into it, and stick burning hot irons into the sea lions flesh. This leaves a very unsightly scar on their backs that really hurts them. Many of the little guys who are seen eating fish and trapped may not live through this excruciating painful experience. If the animal happens to be on the death list for the crime of eating fish than he will be killed. It is very unfair to kill sea lions for eating fish--they have to eat fish-- all the sea lions combined only consume 1% of the salmon and humans kill 17% of the Endangered salmon.
