OU defensive tackle Matt Romar nearly got shot because he wanted to leave OU after his redshirt year.

He called his mother and told her he wanted to go home; that he didn't like it in Norman anymore. She told him to come and expected to see him late the next day.

Early the next morning, though, Romar's older brother, Keenan Romar, got wind of Romar's plan to leave. He gave Romar an earful over the phone and finished it with an ultimatum.

"I'll tell you this," Keenan told him, "if you come home, I'm going to shoot you."

"So ever since then I've been out there," Romar said.

//SOONERS FOOTBALL FANATICS WELCOME//

This channel is for the Sooner football fanatics. It's for the folks who missed their friend's wedding because she had the audacity to get married on the same day as OU-Texas. It's for the folks who want to see Bob Stoops get his statue alongside Bennie Owens, Bud Wilkinson and Barry Switzer.

It's not for posers. It's not for the folks who don't know who Jim Tatum was; didn't watch Johnny Manziel tear apart OU in the Cotton Bowl or suffer through the 40-6 loss to Clemson. It's for the folks who schedule their lives around fall Saturdays in Norman and vacations around bowl season.

Quite simply, this for the folks who hear "Boomer!" and know what time it is.
