In this video I play the second part of the F1 2012 demo, the Young Drivers' Test Dry Laps. 

Between this and my previous video, I did have a few practice laps to try and sort out some issues I was having with the wheel. The first thing that I noticed was that it just wasn't cornering as I expected. I thought F1 2012 was supposed to have more mechanical grip, not less!

I tried tweaking the settings, but actually I found out that it was down to understeer. In a real F1 car, if you turn to full lock around a 150MPH corner, you will understeer, as the front tyres just can't handle that amount of steering lock. They have now implemented this into F1 2012, but they have not implemented the sounds or the force feedback to go with it!

This all means that if you put full lock on around a corner, your cornering speeds will be lower than they should be, but you won't know why. However, with the pad you will find that when you press the analog stick all the way, the wheel will only turn as much as is necessary, thus giving the pad users a theoretical advantage. I hope that in the final game they at least add some sort of force feedback to notify you when you are understeering, as it is just a guessing game at the moment!

The only other issue that I have been having with the steering wheel is being able to keep it in a straight line. This is just down to needing to set the steering linearity up higher, but I hope it will default to the right amount in the full game.

So, due to all of this for the first few laps I was a few seconds off the pace, but I soon adapted once I realised. In this second go I was obviously better practised than before, but it still takes me a while to build up to it!
