CINCINNATI (WKRC) – There is a big “thank you” this Blue and Green Day from families in the Tri-State who have been given the gift of life.

Friday is National Blue and Green Day, meaning that it is a day to say thank you to so many who have given others the gift of life through organ donation.

On Friday at an event at Children’s Hospital, hundreds came together to say “thank you”.

Families who received organs were there to share, but so were those such as Christopher and Danielle Jones. They lost a baby at just 10-days-old, and donated his organs for genetic research.

“So, doctors and researchers have been able to use his organs for case studies and new therapies for other studies, to help other patients,” said Chirstopher and Danielle Jones. “I loved my son, As a fighter, he was a conduit, he was just fighting a losing battle since conception, but he was my son and I’m still proud of him.”

The best way to become an organ donor is to sign the back of your driver’s license and tell your family your wishes.

Friday's event also featured those who have become living kidney donors for children.
