Previously unreleased video: Dad jumps fence to scare sea lions. A child mimics Dad scaring the sea lions from the dock as the child chases his little sibling down the causeway in Astoria, Oregon. The LOA policy of scapegoating, trapping and killing sea lions for consuming fish out of the Columbia River estuary below the Bonneville Dam is an austere and cruel diet plan seeped in muddy dirty politics & not empirical evidence supported wild salmon protection and recovery. Altogether the current pinniped program in Oregon is sadly misguided by a greedy Task Force with agencies seeking to maximize their share of the harvest of endangered salmon with increased allocations & profits for their team because there is no wild salmon protection in blaming sea lions. In addition while many of the Task Force agencies are willing to provide a smoke screen for big business to continue business as usual to scapegoat sea lions instead of holding toxic polluters and wild salmon & forest habitat degraders and extractors accountable. The pinniped Task Force are diverting funding for unblocking fish passages and toxic remediation which have been shown to be cost effective , measurable and there are stacks of empirical evidence to support these efforts as protecting wild salmon populations that spending millions of tax dollars scapegoating sea lions under the factious guise of wild salmon protection and recovery has not. ______________________________________________________________________________________ We all deserve to eat.
