2 weeks of eating chye sim vegetables could have caused this severe haemorrhagic gastroenteritis. Lots of bloody stools in the intestines appeared from the vagina. Anus was absent in this 2.5-year-old female hamster. It is my theory that the chye sim had pesticides which eroded the intestines. The discovery of the recto-vaginal fistula in the dwarf hamster, a rare occurrence in pet hamsters, shows that veterinary medicine is full of surprises. The hamster survived the exploratory laparotomy and was nursed intensively by the owner at home. She survifved 2 days post op but the bleeding diarrhea has resumed, killing her. An unusual hamster who can pick winning 4-digit numbers. The owner prayed at the Goddess of Mercy for her successful surgery. She did survive the anaesthesia and surgery.
