In this Fight class we worked on Dealing with Multiple Attackers.

We started the technical class by going over the most important strategy: Lining Up Your Attackers.

After we drilled this we added counter attacks such as punches and specific types of kicks. Then we added the concept of clinching one opponent and using them as a barrier or shield and positioning them between us and the other attacker(s).

We finished by using the sparring strategy of the "blitz", which is a common aggressive or overwhelming attack used in sport karate competition. It is similar to the principle of "retzev" or continuous motion in Krav Maga. We used this strategy to overwhelm a single attacker while still integrating the other strategies in order to be safe from the other attacker(s).

To finish class we did rounds of sparring. Each person spent 30 seconds as the defender while the other two in the group played the role of the multiple attackers. The pace of this type of sparring is much faster and more intense. The only strategy we didn't practice was to run away or flee the scene for safety... which we would do if we were fighting in a real life self defense situation.

Thank you to all my students who attended this Fight class. This class was a little more intense that most Fight classes but everyone worked hard all the way until the end. Nice work everyone!
