May 27, 2016 Astoria, Oregon It rarely happens that a sea lion suffering with a plastic entanglement will haul out in the Sea lion trap and on May 27, 2016 that is exactly what happened in the East Mooring Basin, SLDB observers report. The entangled sea lion has been observed for weeks in the area and finally, he hauled out in the trap where disentanglement aid was administered to him. In addition we are all very relieved to see that this sea lion received disentanglement aid without being subjected to four hot irons. Yeah! The ODFW beast can have a heart!
