Veteran Calypsonian Dr. Hollis Liverpool, also known as The Mighty Chalkdust, says unlike Carnival celebrations in other countries, Trinidad and Tobago has special significance. He says calypso goes back to the Africans who resisted the many attempts of enslavement and oppression at the hands of their slave masters. Cherrylene Lewis attended a Ministry of Education Seminar on Carnival, hosted by the National Carnival Commission (NCC), and brought back this report.
