Israel has decided to remove the controversial metal detectors at the entrance to a holy site in Jerusalem. It follows an outcry and mass protests from Palestinians over the past week. The Israeli government has replaced them with less obtrusive surveillance. The metal detectors were installed at entry points to Al-Aqsa mosque after two police officers were fatally shot earlier this month.
