Northern Talapoins and Mustached monkeys caught on camera trap in Gabon

With the help of camera traps we can gain an insight into the secret life of animals. Some months ago we managed to record an interesting sequence showing the interaction of two monkey species (Northern Talapoins and Mustached monkeys) inhabiting Batéké Plateau National Park. This was possible thanks to our camera traps placed in the forest of the park. Monkeys here are quite elusive and we struggle to observe their natural behaviour directly. In the video you can see how Northern Talapoins (Miopithecus ogouensis) and Moustached monkeys (Cercopithecus cephus) play together in front of the camera. It’s known that the two species often have interactions, but it’s the first time we have managed to record them in action here at Batéké Plateau National Park.
