COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - A new survey from Interact for Health takes a closer look at why many in the Tri-State don't get vaccinated against the flu. They found nearly half of the population in northern Kentucky have not been vaccinated against the flu in the last year. Most people who chose not to get the vaccine expressed that they didn't get it because of some kind of misperception. For example, some said they were healthy and didn't need it. Others said they didn't think it was effective or it could make them sick. The team at Interact for Health says it's important to note that no matter how healthy you are, you are at risk for getting the flu. It will not make you sick and it is the best prevention tool we have. The numbers were slightly better in older adults for getting the flu vaccine. Almost 70 percent of those 65 and older were likely to have been vaccinated in the last year.
