Metropolitan Klezmer octet performs lively/euphoric Yiddish art song "A Nigun" [A Melody] with soprano Melissa Fogarty, in concert at The Emelin Theatre, Mamaroneck NY on April 22, 2017. Lazar Weiner composed this musical setting for words by neo-folklorist Leybush Lehrer (aka L. Magister). We hear the story of a poor man [a "kabtsn"] who would quarrel only with his Creator, and who upon a time discovered a magical melody. Each verse describes the wonders which befall him whenever he sings this extraordinary tune -- as wine flows forth. Each chorus sounds the miraculous music itself, ending with ecstasy as he jumps for joy.
