Live at Drom nightclub NYC, April 2009.

Medley of three haunting instrumentals, two lilting & one up-tempo, arranged by Eve Sicular (also heard on Metropolitan Klezmer's TRAVELING SHOW cd)

First up is "Grandma's Dance." a folk melody adapted from a lesser-known scene from the wedding sequence of Molly Picon's hit film YIDL MITN FIDL (1936); the second tune is a traditional, with this version modelled on Solomon Mikhoels' singing & Lev Pulver's orchestration during a GOSET [Moscow Yiddish Theater] production in a Soviet newsreel, also from 1936; the kicker is a well-known wedding dance tune aptly titled "Lebedik un Freylekh" (Lively & Happy).

METROPOLITAN KLEZMER:
Ismail Butera - accordion; Pam Fleming - trumpet; Michael Hess - violin; Dave Hofstra - upright bass; Debra Kreisberg - clarinet; Reut Regev - trombone; Eve Sicular - drums / leader.
