Smart Fishermen know that the sea lions are not the problem.

Oregon is facing a $ 1.8 billion dollar budget deficit in 2017--- education, improving access to health care, public services are needed and there are a lot of bridges & sewage systems to repair & funding for emergency response preparedness teams & action plans for local communities are needed

Altogether, those are priorities that ought to come before any expansion of the unscientific, cruel and unjust trapping and killing of California sea lions on the Willamette for eating one salmon in five years from out of the Columbia River. Investing into toxic remediation of the state's waterways will be money well spent and this action will protect endangered salmon because scapegoating sea lions who play an important part in the ecology of the Pacific Northwest does not.

“Unfortunately the endangered salmon reside in a highly altered habitat difficult to establish a hierarchy on the cause effecting salmon mortality. Consequently assigning a value to potential increase in of salmon abundance that will be produced by predator control is problematical.”

“When compared to increases potentially from other remediation of other negative influences such as degraded habitat, altered flow regime and contaminants. “ Dr. Gary Grossman (1).
