If there is one pro-democracy group in Nigeria that is synonymous to what is now known as the JUNE 12 STRUGGLE in Nigeria, it is the National Democratic Coalition otherwise known as NADECO. To mark the nineteenth anniversary of the annulment of the 1993 presidential election in Nigeria, which was widely acclaimed to have been won by the late Chief MKO a Abiola and considered the most transparent election in the country to date, the group assembled at the ground where Chief Abiola declared himself President back in 1994 following the cancellation of the presidential election the previous year by the then military regime. The NADECO assembly at Epetedo in Lagos Island focused on political developments in the country since the annulment of the election. NADECO leaders used the occasion to further press home their repeated demand for a sovereign national conference to discuss the future of Nigeria.
