A section of coast students living with disabilities want more opportunities to enable them to compete for positions in the country as they tend to face marginalisation. Speaking in Mombasa county during a cleanup exercise organized by Sahanajand special school from Mtwapa area, they claimed that most of the students living with disabilities face marginalization and want affirmative action to be introduced to ensure effective support for the disabled. Sahanajand special school head master Mzungu Patrick and his deputy Bonaventure Were said girls living with disabilities are more vulnerable to sex predators and therefore need to be protected. According to Were the cleanup exercise is part of a public awareness campaign on disability inclusion ahead of the 2019 first African congress in Kenya for people with disability. The exercise attracted more than 50 students living with disabilities from Kilifi and Mombasa county.
