My old HP Pavilion dv1411se laptop's been crashing more often lately. It could be a variety of hardware or software issues.  In order to breathe new life into the computer, I'm replacing the hard drive and changing the browser to Mozilla Firefox.  The browser seems more stable now and run faster than Internet Explorer. I ran a chkdsk after installing the new hard drive.  I  also installed Microsoft Security Essentials to protect it against viruses and spyware. This older XP laptop is obsolete but it's a shame to throw it out. Hopefully, it'll work better now with the upgrade.
