Describing a simple system for making rough sketches / starts to hugelmounds in the landscape by designing them to be as close to the felling position of large pine trees. This way, I can break the tree down and make the form of the bed with the branches, needles and log lengths without having to move material a tremendous amount.
Of course, there is more to it, in that I'll need to cap the pile with soil and mulch and plant it out, but this is some food for thought on a way to deal with large pines being cleared to create more food forest space and leveraging their biomass and position while minimizing physical labor.
