1899 Otis hand driven elevator at 420 Broadway

We have moved down to 420 Broadway, off of Canal Street, where we are now in an 1899 Otis hand driven elevator. These were once everywhere in the city, both in apartments and stores, as well as freight elevators. Now, they are few and far between. This elevator has its entrance right off of the sidewalk, which is rather unusual. It goes up 6 floors, and has two sets of grill fences. The elevator itself runs smoothly and doesn't make much noise. It doesn't self level, either, so you have to make sure you know where you stop the elevator.
