He's played a huge role in bringing the Olympics to London, but it looks like David Beckham will now miss out on actually taking part in the games. The former England international was on Stuart Pearce's initial 35-man squad for the tournament, but he's now revealed that he hasn't made the cut for the final 18. If he was selected he would have been one of three 'over-age' players, but those places have apparently been filled by Welshmen Ryan Giggs and Craig Bellamy and England defender Micah Richards. In a statement Beckham admitted his disappointment at missing out on the squad, but says he will still be supporting the team as they compete for a gold medal. His exclusion seemingly brings and end to any hopes of Beckham playing international football again, with the LA Galaxy man unlikely to add to his 115 England caps.
