A speedrun of Cloudbuilt's Acceptance level, fastest run on Youtube at the time of uploading. If you don't know Cloudbuilt, I hope you will appreciate the ecstatic feeling of speed in this game from the video. I love it, the flow of rushing through space in a way we could never experience in real life, the skill building in mastering the controls and optimizing routes. I'd love to write an essay on that. Also, Cloudbuilt allows you to listen attentively to music and audio podcasts (e.g. ted talks) at the same time, since it mostly uses those motor/sensory parts of the brain, and the hippocampus probably (space memory). though yes, there are limits on attention in dual tasks etc. The level and time has since been dominated by Kalifen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IUU3E_4KTQ When i uploaded this, i was #4 global and #1 on Youtube, now it's #6 and #3 respectively. Shoutouts to LiquidBunny as well, who took my run as inspiration to beat my time ^^ just as Kalifen did with both of us. Sorry if the music's out of place. As i wrote, i like to listen to all kinds of music while running. I often had more fitting music, but everytime i notice how well the music fits, i screw up :D For the record, it's Bohuslav Martinu's Madrigal-Sonate for flute, violin and piano H291. He's one of my 6 favourite composers along with Alkan, Bach, Beethoven, Kapustin and Medtner. When i started running (and getting obsessed with) this level, i found its inconsistencies troubling. I feel like you can really build up skill and consistency in Cloudbuilt, as the controls are hard to manage but superbly precise if you know how. The beginning of the level is hard, but with practice and the right timing it's quite consistent. The lasers at 0:11 troubled me the most. So i just skipped them. The problem is that their position depends on the timing of your run, and with the wrong timing, it's impossible to pass a certain spot. Probably going through the lasers is the fastest, but you can only plan your route when you get the same timing and positioning every time (or you waste a ton of attempts getting lasered). Maybe i'll try a laser route when i attempt to improve my time. Same with the end, 0:25. The lasers and purple barriers are really hard to hit while boosting, so i just go around to the right. Maybe going through the middle is faster, i might try that too. But it surely must be a lot harder and lead to many failed runs. Actually, it's worth mentioning that the red laser before 0:25 is the one potential inconsistency of this route, as with certain timings it seems impossible to avoid it and get the boost pickup at the same time. Thankfully, i have the optimal timing here, as i just barely pass it. So i couldn't have gone any faster in this run with this route. So I'll probably change that. I'm also thinking about making a video of an easy, 100% consistent S-Rank route. There are several slight slow-downs you can take to make the execution easier. For example, for the jump to the vertical mine wall at 0:07, you can just boost to the end of the diagonal wall, then hold space to keep still and take time to aim at the vertical wall, where looking straight up at a ~90 degree angle is paramount.
