Here's what is considered to be a "drugstore fan" or "throw-away fan". These types of off-brand fans were sold for less money than the more respectable brands such as Emerson, GE, and Westinghouse. Since they were cheaper, they often didn't hold up as well as the more expensive, better made fans. The main problem that I've found with these cheaper fans is worn bearings, probably due to lack of regular lubrication. This fan only needed a new power cord and cleaning/lubrication and it now works better than I expected.
