The measurement arrangement for the Rosemary Ainslie COP 17 circuit is walked through from the battery terminals outward: a single 12.61 V battery, with one current-sensing shunt carrying both the load return and the 555 timer return so a single reading covers the whole draw. The off-time and on-time pots are then swept end to end, showing points where the amplitude changes direction while the pot keeps turning the same way.
