The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force is carrying out a public display of the Ceremonial Changing of the Guard at the Memorial Park Cenotaph at the top of Frederick Street. According to the Defence Force, historically, the changing of the guard to demonstrate military discipline is to honour and remember those who died on the battlefield during World War I and World War II, and whose remains were not identifiable. The ceremony began at 6am on Thursday and will end at 6pm. It would also take place on Friday from 6am to 4pm. It entails the posting of a Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force sentry to guard the Cenotaph, and this will be conducted every hour.
